Anna S. Chamberlin (1846-1894) was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and
most likely died in Eddyville, Iowa. She was the wife of George W. Chamberlin, a
druggist, and the sister of Winfield Scott Stratton, a successful prospector who mined
in Colorado. Anna became interested in Christian Science while living in Council Bluffs,
Iowa, writing to Mary Baker Eddy to ask for information about studying at the
Massachusetts Metaphysical College. Anna was accepted to the College, taking Primary
class with Mary Baker Eddy in late March 1886. It is not documented whether or not Anna
remained active in the Christian Science movement after studying with Eddy.
