Augustus W. Carey (1868-1945) was born in Glen Haven, New York, and died in Biloxi, Mississippi. By 1880 he had moved to Leet Township, Pennsylvania, and by the mid-1880s to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a clerk for the Pittsburgh and Western Railway Company. In 1889 he married Ida M. Carey (b. Inge) in Pittsburgh. She died in 1893, and in 1895 he married Flora C. Carey (b. Orth) in Canton, Ohio. In 1907 he moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he was the head of the Tennessee Coal, Iron, & Railroad Company. His second wife died in 1937, and in 1938 he married Launa M. Carey (b. Smith) in Jefferson County, Alabama. He retired to Biloxi in 1938 where he remained for the rest of his life. In 1886 Carey wrote a letter to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
