George Gordon Byron, known as Lord Byron, (1788-1824) was born in London,
England, and died in Aetolia Acarnania, Greece. Regarded as one of the greatest English
poets, he was also a politician and one of the leading figures of the Romantic movement.
Among his best known works are the lengthy narrative poems
Don
Juan (1819-1824) and
Childe Harold's Pilgrimage
(1812-1818).
