Philetus Burnham (1834-1896) was born in Saco, Maine, and died in Lowell,
Massachusetts. He was a paymaster at Massachusetts Mills in Lowell, a corporation he
worked for from the age of 17 until his passing. Although he expressed an interest in
Christian Science, there is no record of him studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting
with the Church. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of the Kirk Street
Congregational Church in Lowell.
