David Bugbee (1817-1899) was born in Pomfret, Vermont, and died in
Bangor, Maine. In 1836, he founded David Bugbee & Co., a bookbinder and bookseller
in Bangor, Maine. He continued to run the company until shortly before his death in
1899. Bugbee became interested in Christian Science in 1884, but there is no record of
him studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ
(Scientist).
