William E. Bryant (1842-1915) was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and
died in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1869, he became night editor of the
Boston Journal, later becoming its dramatic editor and critic. In 1901, he
left the
Boston Journal and became manager of B.F. Keith's
Theatre, a vaudeville playhouse in Boston. During his time as a journalist and critic,
he interviewed many famous writers, including Eugene Field and Arthur Conan
Doyle.
