Emma J. Boynton (1842-1916) was born in Sutton, New Hampshire, and died
in Auburn, New Hampshire. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in
1879, and was also an active member of the Christian Scientist Association from 1879
until 1881. She was apparently one of the original members of the Church of Christ
(Scientist), chartered in 1879. Although Boynton drifted away from the Association and
Church because of family commitments, she remained a private student of Christian
Science.
