Martha J. R. Bly (b. Rouse) (1849-1909) was born in Sheridan, New York,
and died in Minnesota. In 1871, she married Carey A. Bly, a miller. After her husband
died in 1875, she worked as a dressmaker. Bly wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1888 that she
had been a Christian Scientist for two years and had taken a class. She joined The First
Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts in September 1893.
