Augusta E. Blunt (b. Wood) (1830-1911) was born in Newburyport,
Massachusetts, and died in Evanston, Illinois. In Newburyport in 1853 she married John
E. Blunt who worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Co., eventually becoming
chief engineer. This career required them to move frequently. In the 1850s they lived in
Dalton, Georgia, in the 1860s in Evansville, Wisconsin, in the 1870s in Wheaton,
Illinois, in the 1880s in Winona, Minnesota, and finally, by 1900, in Evanston,
Illinois, where they remained for the rest of their lives. In 1886, Blunt wrote to Mary
Baker Eddy from Winona to order a copy of
Science and Health With Key
to the Scriptures.
