Henry Blanchard (1833-1918) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and
died in Portland, Maine. He was a Universalist minister who completed his undergraduate
(1859), graduate (1862), and doctoral (1890) studies at Tufts University. He was
ordained in 1857 and ministered in New York, Indiana, and Maine over the course of his
career. In 1885, when he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, he was the minister of the First
Universalist Church, Portland.
