C. Lulu Blackman (1859-1945) was born in Wisconsin and died in Lincoln,
Nebraska. After several years of sickness, she traveled from her home in Nebraska to
Chicago, Illinois, in search of healing. While there, she received Christian Science
treatment through prayer from Ellen Brown Linscott (formerly Ellen Brown) and also began
studying
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She
received class instruction from Mary Baker Eddy in September 1885 and joined The First
Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in January 1894. Blackman was
first listed in the directory of
The Christian Science Journal
as a practitioner in 1886. She later went through Normal class with Eddy and served as a
practitioner and teacher until her passing.
