Maria Birdsall (1830-1915) was born in Newtonville, New York, and died in
Sacramento, California. The Birdsalls were a pioneer family, and Maria's husband,
Constant Birdsall, was a prospector who eventually owned interests in several mines in
Placer County, California, and in Nevada. In 1886, Maria Birdsall wrote to Mary Baker
Eddy, ordering a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures.
