Beaton joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1893. She was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner in Grinnell from 1909-1913. Although she expressed an interest in studying with Mary Baker Eddy, there is no record of her doing so.
