George F. Batchelder (1829-1904) was born in Bedford, New Hampshire, and died in Minnesota. He worked as a merchant and was a veteran of the American Civil War. Batchelder married Amelia E. Beane in Newbury, Vermont, in 1855. Although his sister, Jane M. Rand, was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, there is no record of Batchelder studying with Eddy. He joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 3, 1897.
