Mary E. Bartlett (1857-1915) was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, and
died in Georgetown, Massachusetts. She married John W. Bartlett, a hardware dealer, in
1877. She was the granddaughter of Mary B. Webster. Mary Baker Eddy spent some time
living in Webster's home when she first arrived in Amesbury in 1867. Bartlett swore an
affidavit in 1907, stating that Eddy was evicted by Bartlett's father, William R. Ellis,
as the family had become disenchanted with Eddy's views.
