Herbert H. Bangs (1849-1905) was born in Brewster, Massachusetts, and
died in Newton, Massachusetts. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the
Primary class alongside his wife, Elizabeth S. Bangs, in December 1884. He joined the
Christian Scientist Association in January 1885 and joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in December 1892. He was dropped from
membership in the Church in July 1893 for an unknown reason but possibly because of his
wife's close association with Josephine Curtis Woodbury. He reunited with the Church in
July 1897 and remained a member until his passing.
