Genie L. Ballard (1849-1923) was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and died
in Wendell, Massachusetts. She appears to have become interested in Christian Science in
late 1884 and joined the Christian Scientist Association as a "special student" on
December 3, 1884. Ballard had intended to study with Mary Baker Eddy but she was unable
to afford the tuition. On October 21, 1885, she submitted a letter of resignation of
membership from the Christian Scientist Association and it was accepted at the
Association meeting of November 4, 1885. This ended her involvement with the Christian
Science movement.
