Genie L. Ballard (1849-1923) was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and died in Wendell, Massachusetts. She appears to have become interested in Christian Science in late 1884 and joined the Christian Scientist Association as a "special student" on December 3, 1884. Ballard had intended to study with Mary Baker Eddy but she was unable to afford the tuition. On October 21, 1885, she submitted a letter of resignation of membership from the Christian Scientist Association and it was accepted at the Association meeting of November 4, 1885.
