Henry P. Bailey (c.1839-1900) was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and
died in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, taking Primary
(1884) and Normal (1885) class instruction. In the spring of 1888, Bailey and a group of
students caused a split within the Christian Scientist Association over its response to
the Abby Corner court case. In May 1889, he was granted a withdrawal from the Christian
Scientist Association. After leaving the Christian Science movement, Bailey maintained a
healing practice in an office at Tremont Temple until his passing.
