Edward Bailey (1830-1894) was born in Somers, New York, and died in
Montclair, New Jersey. In 1851 he married Susan M. Bailey (b. Beers) in New Haven,
Connecticut. By 1875 he was living in Brooklyn, New York, where he worked as a grain
broker with the firm of Rice, Quinby & Co, Commission Merchants. In 1887 Bailey
wrote to Mary Baker Eddy seeking a reference to a Christian Scientist in his area from
whom he could seek metaphysical treatment for his daughter, Anna L. Bailey.
