Sophia E. Avery (1834-1913) was born in Millbury, Massachusetts, and died in Worcester, Massachusetts. She became interested in Christian Science in late 1884 and worked alongside other pioneers of the early Christian Science movement in Worcester. Avery took Eddy's Normal Class in February 1887 and her Obstetrics Class in June 1887, but there is no record of her uniting with the Church. She maintained a healing practice in Worcester for over 20 years.
