Henry M. Armstrong (1848-1924) was born in Fletcher, Vermont, and died in
Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1877, in Vermont, he married Emma J. Armstrong (b.
Martin). The couple moved first to Iowa, then Minnesota, where Armstrong was a clerk in
a hardware store, then, in 1881, to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was a
book-keeper for Haynes & Co., tailors. Armstrong was a member of the Bay Path lodge
of Odd Fellows, a charter member of the Unity Center of New Thought, and treasurer of
the district association of Western Massachusetts International New Thought Alliance. In
1886, he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of
Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures.
