Sarah F. Alston (1839-1921) was born in Alabama and died in Atlanta, Georgia. She married Lemuel L. Alston, a physician, in Clarke, Alabama, in 1854. She wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1885, requesting information on Christian Science and asking for advice on Christian Science treatment through prayer for her granddaughter. Alston joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 1, 1898. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Atlanta, Georgia, and was one of eight members who split off in 1903 to start Second Church of Christ, Scientist, where she was elected First Reader. She was listed as a practitioner in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from 1899 until her passing.
