My dear Mrs. Swarts,

I reply to you because I like to write to a lady better than to one of the opposite sex; I have an idea they apprehend me better. Thanks for the kind sentiments your husband and yourself express. I see no reason why we all cannot be well-wishers As Written: wellwishers to each and all. I love the whole human family and have labored to bless all, not a clan, but all. I am abrupt, but honest in what I say to all. But behind this is my universal and deathless love for every one of the human family

One sentence I allude to, where you speak in your letter of the naturalness of the birdling to leave the Mother nest and make his own. I admit that is natural, but this is unnatural, — for the bird to peck the Mother bird's eyes out, and destroy her nest, if it can, before quitting her kind care.

Nothing but animal magnetism propelling man to sin beyond his nature is the cause of such unnaturalness; and we should watch, and be on our guard against doing wrong to anyoneAs Written:any one.

I do not try to guide my students in their present measures. I have tried in the past and they did not heed my council. If they had, all would be united and Christian in the present stage of Mental labor and measures. I hold to Paul's exhortation. This all has been left to me to do, and I will say I have tried to do in this just as I would be done byMatt 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. The ChaptersAs Written:Chap's. in my Revised Edition of Science And HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, — on Animal Magnetism, were God-directed I could not chose but write them. Several times I decided that I would not, I would leave this great question to time and its revolutions. Then would come the propelling power of conscience telling me I must make known the facts that God has revealed to me, or I should incur the sentence of the unprofitable StewardMatt 25:14 ¶For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Matt 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Matt 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. Matt 25:17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. Matt 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. Matt 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. Matt 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. Matt 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. Matt 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: Matt 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. Matt 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Matt 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Matt 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matt 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. Matt 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Luke 17:7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? Luke 17:8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Luke 17:9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. .

So I did as God directed me and not one word was written in aught but love and good will. I do not want the individual to appear in my writings but the purpose to benefit the individual. I hope you will understand me
