Your influence at the meeting of the studentsEditorial Note: This is apparently a reference to remarks made by Edward N. Harris at the September 3, 1884 meeting of the Christian Scientist Association. surprises me! Are you interested to break up our little band at the beck of “whispers”? Are you aware that you array yourself against my council at every opportunity? No! I think you are not sensible of what you are doing, for if I thought you were I would not address you on the subject. Now dear student, you have often said to me kind things and appeared very sensible of the meaning of your words of gratitude You are now in my ranks and can exert an influence for or against my measures and thus show where you stand, loyal or disloyal, at this opportunity to reward me how are you using your influence? Now if you were the teacher and pastor of a people, would you like to have someone As Written: some one taking into their hands the direction of that people? Proposing new societies, and new methods? And all this without consulting you? You are not doing in this as you would be done by. I expect you and Dr. Buswell and every other Christian ScientistAs Written:C.S. Or member of my church to consult me first before taking any active steps so long as I am pastor of the Church

Yours kindly
