I have recently heard of you, and some of your very remarkable Metaphysical cures and take the liberty of writing in regard to my sister’s daughter, who is now very ill.

Physicians pronounce the case a very serious one, tending very strongly to consumptionEditorial Note: tuberculosis of the lungs and bowels. She has high fever much of the time coughs a good deal, and a constant diarrhea As Written: diarrhoea. Her monthly coursesEditorial Note: periods ceased nearly five months ago. Her mouth and throat have been sore at times, which physicians say the same in character as her lungs. Her appetite is failing and of course she is growing weaker every day.

Her mother does not think she is able to go to you if she could take her and meet the expenses of the trip and board, in addition to your charges. Can you help without seeing her? And what the charges for such treatment?

About two weeks since we heard you were to visit our cityEditorial Note: Clara E. Choate, not Mary Baker Eddy, had been expected to visit Milwaukee and Chicago, but decided in the end not to go. and intended to have you see our sick one; but have since heard that you are not coming, much to our regret. My niece is 26 years of age, a quiet thoughtful girl, and I think would have faith in your treatment, although she has never openly confessed faith in Christ as her Saviour. Her mother is a Christian and member of the Baptist Church, has taught her two daughters to reverence the Bible and its sacred teachings. The husband and father died some years ago of typhoid fever, but had been a great sufferer for years from stomach and bowel trouble.

Will you be so kind as to reply immediately, and tell us what you would advise us to do, if you cannot treat by writing? I have tried to be as particular as possible in writing.

Please direct your reply to the mother

P.S. Do you know a Mrs. Sherman of Chicago practicing the metaphysical treatment, and is she one you can recommend in case you can do nothing for us by writing?
