Editorial Note: The background of this letter is the unsuccessful lawsuit brought against Mary Baker Eddy by Josephine Curtis Woodbury. The suit began on July 31, 1899 and concluded in Eddy’s favor on June 5, 1901. On January 17, 1901, Edward A. Kimball had been called to Boston and commissioned by Eddy to represent her in all matters related to the Woodbury suit.
