Mother again requests you not to make notations. A word here and there is not objectionable, but the sentences are objectionable – some in this last proof are very much so– Not one of the author's As Written: authors sentences mustAs Written:mut be erased, but can be rearranged.

Please do not make erasures but underline, and put your question point in the margin. Please regard these rules as invariable and to be followed strictly.

She now adds that this involves so much work that she cannot give her time to it now and this is her final decision. She says that you have not grown to the work yet and it is better for you to wait and do so. As it is it puts too great a burden upon her and makes it just about as hard as if she had to do the work alone. I send you a few pages she has been over so you can see what has had to be done.
