Animal Magnetism.

But love has enabled me to see the error and face it while others are running before it or busy trying to find out what is up

A few months since an esteemed student the business manager of the C.S. Journal left Boston. The last time I saw him his changed mental state startled me mental change, the shadow that hung over the disk of his thought a black cloud of mental confusion. The calm light of self-confidence As Written: self confidence moral strength and indomitable christian purposes seemed but scintillations As Written: cintilations upon the darkened disk of a disturbed mind I recognized it at once as phenomenal. It was the sign of the times with which I am familiar. It was the horoscope hung out upon the sky with this inscription malicious animal magnetism. I knew his fate was imminent and wondered if he was resisting the power of mortal mind that had hold of him to demoralize through silent arguments his once clear sense of honesty justice and truth, so I casually remarked "does the mental malpractice of this hour reach you"? He replied "I dont know." Had he but known the cause he would have mastered its effects.

"Behold one woe is passed and behold another cometh quicklyRev 9:12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter. , The Secretary of our Association whom this demonology could only reach physically became suddenly sick. He was treated by a Christian Scientist for mind poisoning. This removed the febrile As Written: febril condition and the pulmonary sufferings but the virus As Written: virous of malicious minds caused the relapse of his old diseases that the honest mental practitioner had removed, and he died suddenly. I saw him two weeks before his death, noticed the symptoms of mental malpractice upon him spoke of it begging him to address himself to removing that at once or he would find himself in great danger. But the worst was he seemed unconscious of any necessity for doing it The mental malpractitioners could not demoralize him, hence they slew him.

The next mental manifestation of the workings of this hidden malice to disrupt our organizations and embroil As Written: enbroil Teacher and student was the usual detonation running to and fro whispering and audibly insinuating falsehoods Trifles light as air were confirmations sure and the blows fell thick and fast upon the old society of the had hold of him to Mass. Met. College that had braved the storms when seas were rough, but now in a sunny hour fell off.

The funds of the Church and the books of the Association became the prey. I called the special meetings that were rapidly demanded but in my effort to get ready to attend the National Convention was delinquent in the notifications. There were over one hundred letters for the new Secretary to dispatch who was unfamiliar with the business, and others send request for the members most distant to be ready for the notification but before the notices were ready to be mailed the moments were passed and the time was insufficient As Written: insifficent for a legal notice This infuriated the intoxicated senses upon which the mental malpractitioners were enacting the cats' play with the mouse and new invectives were hurled at their Teacher and pandemonium prevailed.

The M.P. was a meeting suggested by her students. She adopted only the methods they proposed and gave this as the first subject for mental practice "There is no animal magnetism" After the first meeting This subject was dropped and in less than one week the MP came together and took this topic for mental practice "God is all and God is Love." This worked well, but some of the members took but little interest and there were in all but two meetings of the M.P. that some of its members moved by the fatal spell to dishonor somebody have referred As Written: refered to with holy horror.

I have attended the Association meetings very seldom for the last three years and not as an active member until the meeting called following the death of our Secretary. I challenge As Written: chalange any mortal man or woman. to show me a deceiver or not strictly conscientious in all that I say or do. This tempest in a teapot is one of the crises of malicious mental practice, one mortal mind affecting another mortal mind to consummate As Written: consumate its schemes of revenge. It is the actor and not the one acted upon who is the special secret assassin. Also it is the consummation As Written: consumation of a plot of an ambitious student in Boston whom I have lifted above her proper level and whom has been playing the Absalom As Written: Absolom with me for several years.

I have stood the onslaught of envy, malice and libels twenty-two years unharmed and the discover and founder of Christian Science needs not self-defenseAs Written: self-defence .
