I wrote you three weeks agoEditorial Note: See 946.92.025, and sent three dollars & seventeen ctsEditorial Note: $3.17 in 1886 is the equivalent of $87.28 in 2020., in Postage stamps, requesting you to send me your new works on scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science as soon as convenient for I was expecting a friend to visit me & I wished to interest her in this method of healingEditorial Note: Christian Science. I addressed my letter as I found it in the Journal. My friends fear, & so do I, that the money, is lost, for I sent it without having it registered, for husband has often received sums larger than that through the mail unregistered. My husband is a Minister & unfortunately does not sympathize with me in obtaining the booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I've As Written: Ive taught a little Miss evenings & earned three dollarsEditorial Note: $3.00 in 1886 is the equivalent of $82.60 in 2020. & was so pleased that I could purchased the new books & not feel obliged to borrow from my friends. I must apologize for my husband. He has been unabled to preach only occasionally for seven years, & the little we've saved in case of sickness was invested as we thought securely, but we've found to our sorrow it was not & very largely lost. This makes us feel that we must — economize. My husband to his grief is obliged to receive aid of the Ministerial Fund, The one he used to contribute to liberally in more prosperous days. That will account in part to his thinking I better do without the booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, but I cannot I had rather deny myself in my daily food. I'm getting hungry for the reading of them.
