I have just been reading an Article, entitled Faith Cure; in the Daily, Nonpareil, a Paper published in Council Bluffs, this stateEditorial Note: Iowa, In which the subject of Christian Science, or mental healing, is spoken of at some length. It says that this method of healing was first discovered in 1866 by yourself. I presume the writer means that this method was reduced to a science, more particularly by yourself, rather than discovered. In it he says that numerous cures have been effected by it. He speaks of a Book which you have written called Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy containing a correct and complete statement of the science of mental healing its principles and practice. I am intensely interested in anything that pertains to such a subject, therefore I hope you will excuse the liberty I take in writing you this letter of inquiryAs Written:enquiry. Let me say that I have a very limited education and have read comparatively nothing relating to Metaphysics or any of the sciences. But this matter of the Spirit, and the immortal part of man, and the possibility of God so working through the channel of Faith and Obedience, in his, creature as to heal if need be all his diseases, I am strongly inclined to believe. I believe that disease is the result of error, darkness and ignorance, and of Sin, as a primary cause. It has for a long time seemed to me, that to remove the cause, would also remove the effect. I am ignorant of just how to go about it, to accomplish the desired result. If in the goodness of your heart you will aid me in obtaining this light I shall ever consider myself your debtor, and always pray that the Divine blessing may rest upon you. If you will kindly write me a brief reply stating whether the Article referred As Written: refered to is correct, whether you have written the Book spoken ofEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and whether you have demonstrated, the science, it treats of, I shall be glad. If you will state the price of the publication, I will send for it. Or if you think you can mail me one of the works by return of mail I can assure you of a prompt remittance on receipt of the same.

Very Respectfully Yours
