My dear Mrs. Eddy

I have become quite interested in “Christian Science” through my cousins – the “ShermansEditorial Note: Bradford Sherman and Roger Sherman of Chicago and take the liberty to address you onAs Written:in behalf of a friend, Dr. Aaron Ordway of LawrenceEditorial Note: Lawrence, Massachusetts – He is afflicted according to his belief and that of all eminent Physicians, whom he has consulted – with slow paralysis – it commenced in his feet & has now reached the lower half of his bowels – He is expecting, any time that it will reach his heart and he will die. Now what I wish to know is. Can you cure him? or can you make him comfortable while he lives – He has very strong beliefs being fortified by his lifelongAs Written:life long theories & practiceAs Written:practise in medicine he is 65 yrs old - He has no faith in Metaphysics as a cure of disease – but is willing to try it, if there is any hope of any possible help – There are C.S.s’Editorial Note: Christian Scientists here, but he will not call in any of them but is willing & desirous of having you take his case in hand, if you believe he can be cured or even relieved for some time. Will you write me immediately – what you think of his case! And could you be persuaded to come to Lawrence to see him? he will have no one else - & really I do not believe anyoneAs Written:any one else could do him any good. and I am exceedingly anxious to have this test of C.S.Editorial Note: Christian Science made here in LawrenceEditorial Note: Lawrence, Massachusetts – it would be a great victory – should you succeed in curing him – I shall wait your reply with much anxiety, as he is in so critical a condition
