Will you please send specimen copies of your monthly publication to the addresses which I enclose on another slip of paperEditorial Note: This slip of paper is not extant.. They are friends whom I much wish to learn something of your Christian Science. as they are all ill except myself, and I need a "tonic"

I have learned little of it as yet and do not at all understand how cures are affected. but a religion which appeals straight to the heart and reason withoutAs Written:with-out rites and ceremonies is something I am hungry for, as the churches seem to fail more and more in pure religion as years pass on

I am very fond of reading and to satisfy my own soul. I have made more than a thousand extracts from the different great poets which nearly all are in accord with your teachings though I never heard of your scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science till this fall and that but little. An invalid lent me one of your magazines a few days We had thought of trying to send for your bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy but had not decided yet as to that. Waiting to learn more as we have not money to spend freely for books.
