Dear Friends

Our science should make us frank. I prefer to be. of course we have heard of each otherAs Written:eachother. I was in the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal ChurchAs Written:M. E Church Neb. for years & and am well known in your state. I lived in Omaha many years ago & have been there much & have many warm friends among the old staunch businessmenAs Written:business men of your city.

I have thought that you might mistake my spirit and purpose when I visit your city. Mrs. Eddy's folks have not been sparing in their vituperations about me & some of them have gone as far in their slander as I will be apt to allow. Yet I can bear a good deal & will see.

It would be my disposition to make a friendly call on you but I cannot yet decide. If I were to do so it would be in company with some for later judgment.

As Mr F. has just returned from BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts it is probable that his mind may not see clearly the good result to the general cause if a certain wise work were to be done in Omaha as so much of the country around is tributary. but if you people are inclined to charge the false statements of "mesmerist," "Spiritualist" & some other things as false then it would bring from me a full & public defense. I was taught by Mrs. Eddy. I am clear in the science & I defend her stoutly. There is some jealousy over my success. but I must not heed that. I would name some items that I know would interest you to hear but not now.

Allow me to assure you of my brotherly & friendly feelings. I would not come into Omaha & try to keep from you the fact. I mean the defense of the science in its purity. I do not have one thing to do with Spiritualism or any of its works & I will not be so represented in Omaha. Do not construe this letter as any proposition by me, simply take it as from an advocate of Truth & of Christian or Mental Science. I do not expect to heal while out here but I have many relations & friends in Neb. & I will be heard in this cause, If you are the ones to refer the people to- for teaching & healing I will recognize the fact soon. If you wish me to give you responsible As Written: responcible Omaha references drop a line to that effect to me in Omaha P. S. & I will either call for it by Tuesday. or have it come over here. One friendly interview I would permit & then act thereafter with the light it would give me. I hold to charity & peace.

Very truly Yours.
A J Swarts

I am liable to visit Lincoln Soon as I have two sisters there. and also a brother who is in the ministry- & over 40 relations over the state. I am ready for a friendly interview if you desire it. Act freely please- as other decision will do me.
