I receivedAs Written:recd your letter some time ago, and am much obliged to you for your suggestions, I have tried to carry them out.
Is “Science & Health”Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. translated into French? I have a patient who is French & cannot speak or read a word of English. She is a great friend of Sec. Frelinghuysen’s family, and her friends are principally among the Foreign Legations, and I wouldAs Written:wd like very much to introduce your bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy., among that class of people: but I am afraid they wouldAs Written:wd not take the trouble to read it in English.
If you can let me know soon, if the book is published in any language but English, & if so, in what languages, I shall be much obliged.
I send you, as a curiosity, an interpretation of the 2nd chap. of Gen, which is quite amusing I think.
I have two patients, here, who have been as much benefitted by Metaphysics, that they tell me they are going to have their property to build Mind Cure Hospitals, A good idea I think.
I wish there was another practitioner; a good one, and a cultivated person. I have got it started among the first people, and I shouldn'tAs Written:shdnt like to have a person that they wouldAs Written:wd not respect. It is not an easy place here, ItEditorial Note: Christian Science isn’t known at all, and the people, generally, are very incredulous.
P.S.
I wish Miss Bartlett could come for awhile. I don’t suppose she couldAs Written:cd have though. Who is then?
Oh by the way, is there a Mrs Shote practicing Metaphysics in New YorkAs Written:N. York. I have been told so, but said I didn’t think she was a Met. as I never heard of her.
Yours &c.
