My Dear Mrs Eddy

Thank you for the certificateEditorial Note: This is possibly a reference to a student’s certificate, as Drake had taken class at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College in winter 1884. I am half afraid of it, for I am not worthy yet, to possess one, but I will faithfully try to work up to it, and hope not to disappoint you. I think Christian Science is verily like Pilgrims Progress, I only wish that once floundering through the Slough of Despond, on one visit to Doubting Castle, might be enough, but I fear Christian made a straighter journey than I shallEditorial Note: This is an allusion to an incident that takes place in John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim's Progress from This World, to That Which Is to Come (1678)..

Mr Drake sends kindest remembrances, and appreciates your kindness, in offering a reward of merit. - if you think it wise to undertake such a responsibility, he would be glad to become an honorary member of the C.S.A. he does not quite understand what the rules would be for him, but he honestly reciprocates the kindness which prompted the offer and would accept it in the same way.

It has not yet proved warm enough for the seashoreAs Written:sea shore, but we shall go as soon as possible. Our house is on Highland Avenue, HullEditorial Note: Hull, Massachusetts and we should be so glad to see you there; any of the ScientistsEditorial Note: Christian Scientists who might take a sail in the Harbor this summer would be very welcome.

May God's blessing be upon your important work this summer

Respectfully and Lovingly
Annie C. Drake

I have enjoyed the booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy very much and will soon return them.
