My dear Mrs. Eddy,

Your telegramEditorial Note: This telegram is not extant. just receivedAs Written:rec’d – Have read H. Sketch twice – Many thanks – Since my last letter to you I have aged very much – have been ill constantly – So weary, fatigued lifeless – nothing particular the matter (except palpitation) but everything As Written: every thing in general – Do not sleep well – wake about 3 o’c & lie awake the balance of the night – No appetite – restless – I had taken two cases of deafness & one of alcohol and I am so anxious to cure them particularly the deafness – Both cases being of long standing & widely known – but I am not satisfied about them – they are ladies & one of them declared that the auditory nerve was ruptured 23 yrs. ago when she was shocked by the very sudden death of husband & three children all occurring in one week –

She was one of my first acquaintances in this county & I have been the recipient of many kindnesses at her hands – now she is poor & I would so like to be of service to her – She uses a trumpet – Those two women I spoke of are doing much harm – always & constantly rehearsing certain things about Mrs. E - & her practices – they are the persons who are practicing “black art” on me – at the same time pleasant to my face & trying to induce me to take instruction from them for twenty dollarsEditorial Note: $20.00 in 1885 is the equivalent of $528.13 in 2019.

Since writing you I have had an offer to travel in Australia giving dramatic recitals etc – The gentlemanAs Written:gent. has recently returned from there & is well acquainted with the country

He has offered to furnish my outfit - & pay my passage & advance money for necessary expenses – then we are to share equally in the receipts & expenses – we would visit small towns as well as larger ones – he would attend to the business & I do the professional work – he wishes to sail the 14th of March – If we did well in AustraliaAs Written:A – we might go to India & so around the world – Now can you not give me information by letter – all that is necessary to me to know – condensed instruction from your own self – From what As Written: wat I gather I am inclined to think that the part I do not understand is diagnosing, getting at the hidden cause – Can you teach this to all – Can you give me the private instruction by letter – If I take this trip I should have a splendid opportunity to spread your ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science

Let me hear from you at once as there is no time to lose – Do you give Diplomas? What is the commitment & how long is required? If you desire I can leave the agency with a person here whom I can trust & will leave money for him to advertise with – for him to act for me. not to resign the Agency to anyone As Written: any one -

Dear, good kind Heart may God bless & prosper you always

Lovingly
