My dear Mrs. E,

I answeredAs Written:ans’d yours of 22dEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. yesterday – but had no time to say all I wished – How I wish I could annihilate time & space & nestle in the aroma of your dear heart –

I have reason to believe that certain persons through envy & spite have practiced their “isms” on me

I have had a return of the old trouble

Indigestion constipation & palpitation which I had confessed to many, that I had cured – Also am treating two patients a deaf person & a consumptive – they visibly improved at the start – but are now worse, & I had stated these cases also

What can I do to circumvent their nefarious doings – What a fearful power it is! Why will people be so envious & spiteful & malicious? I assure you I can sympathize with you – There are those who never forgive others who are superior in any way As Written: anyway to themselves. I feel worse about my patients than I do for myself – for I can suffer.

Forgive me for troubling you with my affairs – but if you cannot tell me the remedy no one can. How much I enjoy all you write –

In haste affectionately
