I have made it a rule of my life when I have discovered that I have been wrong to try to correct it. It is unfortunate to err but to persist in error against conscience is criminal. I verily thought with myself that I ought to do what I did in defense As Written: defence of Justice. I have been led to see conscientiously upon reflection that I did you, and the Cause you representEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science., an injustice in doing so. I am too honest with my convictions therefore to withhold the acknowledgement of regret in my own case and ask you to consider the conflict into which I was naturally if not necessarily plunged by my peculiar surroundings. No man could be truer and more loyal to your teaching than I have been and vowed within my heart to be. And in all my misconceptions regarding you, as to what seemed dogmatism, bigotry and even selfishness, I must be candid, never for an instance did I allow that Christian Science was other than the true statement of things. I think more of you now than ever, more possibly than I ever could have done if I had not passed through this experience. I make these statements simply because I believe it is my duty and my privilege to do so. If you will not accept them I cannot help it. I will have a clear conscience in the consciousness of being at peace. I shall write to Mr Sawyer and any others I may have in any way led to indignation and grievance. I confess I should not have withheld the resolutions although I did so not in any pettish feeling of revenge but in a poor mortal sense of justice. I do still see some defects in the methods of Christian Scientists the chief of which is a lack of system and business regulation; but instead of grumbling about that I ought to have lent my aid to help setting that in order. All along and still will I think what you may of me regard your work as the grandest feature of ourage. and am ready to do all indeed I am doing all I can to sew the seedMatt 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. Matt 13:2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. Matt 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; Matt 13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Matt 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: Matt 13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. Matt 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: Matt 13:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Matt 13:9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 8:4 ¶And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. Luke 8:6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. Luke 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. Luke 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 8:9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. . I have had several patients that have been progressing nicely. All of them have chronic beliefs. One inflammatory rheumatism of 20 years, who when I began could not move herself one way or other nor has she for 2 yrs. is now able to raise her hands to her head and use them freely and by a little assistance can walk. A case of epilepsy I consider healed and others much benefited. My wife and I are in fine health. I cannot be other than a Christian Scientist if I would. I would not be firmer if one should rise from the dead and declare unto me.Luke 16:19 ¶There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. One brother said to me yesterday, "Well even apart from the healing it is the grandest doctrine ever presented". And that is true. I am ready so far as in me lies to set right any wrong I may have done in my conflict. I am afraid that you did not understand me, and I know you have been so often deceived you are justified in what may seem harshness. Now I felt this was due to you and I feel freer than before writing it. I am
