My dear Teacher:

I am informed by Miss Brown of your desire that a college be started here and your inquiry if I will be its head; such a suggestion from you is highly gratifying and I assure you of my appreciation.

I hope I do not disappoint you but I am painfully conscious that I am incapable of assuming any such responsible position and leadership, and must therefore decline.

When we have a college here I hope to see it under a competent management a credit to the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science. and an efficient builder in the Truth.

Faithfully Yours
