I feel it my duty and privilege to defend my dear sister Ellen Brown - against the false charges made against her by some malicious, envious mind - She is not guilty of one charge made against her, and I know what I say is true - I know her more intimately than anyoneAs Written:any one else does in Chicago - Many of her patients As Written: patience are my neighbors and friends, and all the complaints that I have ever heard were, that she was too strict - Rest assured my dear Teacher that Ellen Brown is one of your most earnest faithful students - and striving to grow higher and higher in the work - She is now an inmate of my home and I consider it a great privilege to have her with me - She has the largest practice of any student in the CityEditorial Note: Chicago, Illinois - and sends patients As Written: patience to others every day that she cannotAs Written:can not attend to herself - She frequently has letters from other cities begging her to go and take charge of individual cases - she always refuses and says she has no time to work on the case - She is too full of her work to have room to entertain malicious attacks - Ever since the last meeting of the associationEditorial Note: The Chicago Christian Scientist Association was a branch of the Christian Scientist Association in Boston, Massachusetts. we have been more or less annoyed with mesmerism, and I am ashamed to say one night I was almost overcome with fear, it must have been a personal attack for I never realized anything so fearful - I am now glad of the experience for it has made me stronger - After Miss Brown received your severe rebuke she came home so crushed and discouraged, for she loves you dearly, and since she returned from BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts has spoken so affectionately of you - I beg of you dear Teacher not to allow these evil minded persons (whoever they are) to stand between you, for their accusations are as false as night - and without the slightest foundation -

I am writing this entirely on my own responsibility - and I hope you will not be annoyed with my interference -

I shall ever be one with you in helping on the great work of "Christian Science"

Yours very respectfully, and lovingly -
Hannah A. Larminie
