Do you know, I feel a relief now, that the “Mals” even though they work against your coming, I can say out openly, will be here. Did I not feel confident it is God’s work, I could not experience such faith in its success.
I have arranged all the board business, and as I proposed to you while there, and there is no place where you will be so retired and independent as in our home. I can get good places for Miss Bartlett and Mr Frye close by, so I feel sure you will be pleased with the arrangement: On receipt of this: please reply what route you take, and what time of day you will leave Boston, Your most enjoyable route is to leave Boston by the Boston and Providence RailroadAs Written:RR at 10.00 A M or 1.00 P M. then leave New York by the PennsylvaniaAs Written:Penn RailroadAs Written:RR at 8.00 P M. on a Pullman Sleeper you arrive in Chicago, at the Union Depot at 7.50 A M. the second morning step from one car to another and at 11.00 A M. you arrive here: If you are going to come by local trains, take the Boston and Albany RailroadAs Written:RR stop one night at Syracuse As Written: Sarycuse , leave Syracuse As Written: Sarycuse next morning at 7.00 arrive at Niagara Falls 12.45 P M. then from there you will have to choose between the Michigan Central or Michigan Southern & Lake Shore RailroadAs Written:R.R. to Chicago; I should prefer to ride from Boston through to Niagara Falls at once, arriving at the Falls at 12.00 at night then leave the Falls the next day at noon via the Lake Shore, or Michigan Central. By coming those routes you will have to transfer from their respective Depots to the C. M & St Paul in Chicago.
Whichever route you come, make it by train that arrives in Chicago in the morning, unless you stop overnight As Written: over night in C – which I hope you won’t As Written: wont do, as it is not necessary. Also telegraph me on your arrival in Chicago: or if you prefer I will meet you in Chicago.
My advice would be to take the first named route, PennsylvaniaAs Written:Penn. RailroadAs Written:RR. and come directly through it is the smoothest, and best equipped As Written: equiped road in the country.
You understand from my letter sent from Chicago that it was to make no alteration about coming here: we will consult on that plan after you arrive. and when I give you all that I know of ShermansEditorial Note: Bradford Sherman and Roger Sherman, and the situation at Chicago; you will rejoice that you come so soon.
The booksEditorial Note: Copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. arrived safely; I have much to say to you about the future of the sale of them when you come.
This is the last letter until I meet you again, and in Milwaukee: no “Mal” can or shall stop you or God’s glorious work, forward! is the command; you will not stop or falter I know. and you may rely on me to the extent of my ability, as I doubt not you do.
Telegraph me when you start. also from the last stopping place before reaching Chicago: then I can have all provision made at this end with no vexatious delays.
