Dear Friend

You perceive I do not wait for a reply to my last, as I know you are constantly occupied. I am sorry to notice in the Sept No of the Journal pg 147Editorial Note: See “August Meeting of the Association” on page 147 of the September 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal. According to this account of the meeting, the topic of “selfishness,” in regard to Pamelia J. Leonard, was brought up by Leonard herself, not by others at the meeting. Leonard apparently had heard of certain persons implying that she was being selfish for charging a fee for her classes in Christian Science when there were people who had insufficient financial means and yet a great desire to study.. such an account of the Aug meeting of the association (In your absence) I think it an injury the cause, & a great wrong to Mrs Leonard to speak of selfishness in regard to her. She is working hard here, & unselfishly, I think. I am sorry to see this spirit of condemnation (published) among Christian science members. Pardon what I write but having heard comments in regard to this article I send my "warning note" in confidence, & love.

Yours faithfully
F. Mcn Potter
