My own dear Mrs Eddy

I only heard from Mrs Croly a few moments ago, and she finds it impossible to accept your kind invitation for July 4th. She has been out of the city for the last ten days filling some lecture engagements, and will not return in time to go by Saturday nights boat. I feel very sorry for I much wanted her to see you, and I must confess I am selfish enough to feel sorry on my own account– I would have so much liked to see you. I am still doing well in my business– have all that I can possibly do– am still trying to realize more and more my nearness to God.

With more love, than words can express
Laura Lathrop
