Dear Mrs. Eddy,

yours of March 2ndEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. received. Am very thankful As Written: thankfull indeed for your prompt and favorable reply.

Will I be allowed to take the primary course with you after the Normal course or will I not be allowed to take the Theological if not the Primary. I desire to do just what is right, and to take the course that will the sooner prepare me to do the greatest good. My object in taking the Normal course is to be able financially to help my brothers and sisters who are as earnest in the work as myself.

I shall answer the two questions by giving you a synopsis of my life (in belief) Some years ago my father was a well-to-doAs Written:well to do farmer. But leaving the farm, he entered into a partnership mercantile business which soon left him with more experience than capital. I was at the time in Ansgari college Knoxville Illinois but because of our belief of misfortune was obliged to return home to help support the family I being the eldest of eight children. I have since acted as clerk, schoolmasterAs Written:school master, traveling salesman mechanic, anythingAs Written:any thing to earn an honest living. During this time I followed up my course of study mostly during night hours after my day'sAs Written:days' work. was over. In this way I finished a course of mathematics through Trigonometry As Written: Trigomonietry and Surveying, read Caesar Cicero & Virgil in Latin have studied most of the sciences (Natural). My aim through all this has been to take up the legal profession. But Christian Science has placed me in my proper sphere. All my time excepting about three weeks has been given to the cause of Truth since I studied. Hope you will not be worried (in belief) with this long letter. If you will be kind enough to reply to Louisville KentuckyAs Written:Ky. and to give me some idea of when the classes will convene

I will remain Yours in Truth
